Buying a Painting

There are several ways for you to buy my artwork:-

  1. Online - right here on this website!

Most of my paintings are viewable on the gallery page, from where you can choose to purchase and pay securely by Paypal by clicking the Paypal button when it appears for available paintings. If the Paypal button does not appear for particular items, that indicates (amongst other clear notification of availability) that the item is not available to buy. If you do buy, please note that I do not store any of your personal information at all - not even your email address for possible future contact by myself. Nor, therefore, can or will any such information be passed on to third parties. Further, all relevant purchasing information, including credit/bank card information is handled entirely by Paypal, who simply notify me of the buyer's delivery address details once the payment has been made.

Purchasing in this way means the transaction falls under the updated Consumer Contracts Regulations for distance selling, for which it is legally necessary that I set out some Terms and Conditions to make clear to potential buyers, my obligations and your rights; so if you are thinking of making a purchase in this way, please do check them out first.

An important point to emphasise for on-line purchases is that all frames shown in the images are FOR IMAGE DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. All online purchases are for paintings on canvas or paper as appropriate and stated in the item details, but WITHOUT FRAME / GLASS. Of course, I should be happy to advise or arrange framing on request, but due to the difficulties / complications in sending paintings framed, as well as the fact that frames are a personal choice to suit buyer circumstances and preferences, my standard practice is to supply all items unframed for online purchases. Watercolours and some other paintings on paper, however, where appropriate and always as stated in the item details, will be supplied with the (card) mount.

  2. View and buy at locations in Darwen

As explained elsewhere, I have most currently available paintings on display at either of two proximate locations in Darwen where you can both view and buy. Apart from giving you the opportunity to view an item fully, another advantage of this method is that the painting(s) come ready-framed for shop display. So if you are interested and live locally - do pop in, you will be most welcome to view and of course, at the same time, you may well be tempted to spend a little extra on the delicacies on offer at Carlo's and the Tea Room!

  3. Contact me for further information and to arrange a viewing or a personal sale

If for any reason methods one or two are not suitable, or if you want to contact me directly for further information on any matter, or to discuss commissioning a painting, please do not hesitate to do so. The contact page is an easy way for you to do this in the first instance.

Returns

As an "artist" rather than a "businessman", my only aim is to send you a painting of your choice with which you will be very satisfied and if for any reason on receipt of the item, you wish to return it, that is no problem. Simply contact me within fourteen days, return it in original condition and your purchase price will be refunded in full, but do please note that the additional cost incurred of your returning the painting to me will need to be met by the purchaser (i.e. not refunded.)

Post, Packing and Delivery for Online Purchases

Rather than making delivery an easy process for me (e.g. by removing the stretcher and supplying the detached artwork canvas rolled up in a tube) I like to keep it easier for the purchaser of the painting, so unless otherwise requested, I despatch all my paintings "ready for framing" which means:

  • Canvas paintings in oil/acrylics come ready-fitted on their wooden stretcher. You can therefore hang "as is" or fit a frame of your own choice. When I despatch the painting, it will be protected by appropriate wooden panels on each side. That means less work for you or your frame maker when you receive the painting - no need to mount/re-stretch the canvas.
  • Watercolours and other paintings on paper come supplied with an appropriate card mount only, again making it "ready for glass and framing." As with my canvas artwork, appropriate protective packaging will be provided to make it suitable for despatch e.g. hardboard panels on each side.
  • Frames & Glass

All frames shown in the image gallery for online purchases are FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES ONLY and are not supplied. The price quoted is for the artwork only and excludes frames / glass.

I should, of course, be happy to discuss framing arrangements with you if desired.

Alternatively, if you are unable to get a frame made-up, all the paintings I have on display locally in Darwen are already framed. Most people, on seeing the painting close-up, in its frame, usually purchase the artwork complete with the fitted frame. This is generally only available for those who view / buy / collect locally.

Orders from Outside of the UK

I will despatch to countries worldwide if required, but please note that delivery charges quoted on this website are for UK deliveries only. Please contact me first to obtain a delivery cost if you wish me to send an item outside of the UK. Also, please be aware that additional taxes and duties may be imposed by your own country (if it is outside of the EU) when you receive it.

    Buying Prints

There are signed, limited edition edition prints available for some of the more recently completed artwork, but not for many of the earlier works illustrated in the gallery. All the faithful reproduction prints of my original artwork have been carefully produced utilizing pigment based Epson Ultrachrome HD archival inks and the highest quality, acid free, cotton archival, fine art paper, combining to yield a museum quality, highly durable print which conforms to archival standards consistent with collectible fine art. If you are interested in buying a print, please do contact me to discuss the options. Prices start from £45 for a ready-mounted print, suitable for framing.

(Some of the aforementioned points are covered in further detail on the Terms and Conditions page.)

View

Some of my current work can be seen on display (and bought) locally in Darwen, Lancashire from my good friends at Deli Carlo and the Sweet Vintage Tea Room, both conveniently situated by the market hall front entrance in Darwen town centre.
